Slightly lighter than the standard Aspin, the Aspin SL uses the ST2.2 Hubset wich is more machined than the 1.2's on the Aspin set. If you want to race then these would be a good 'inexpensive' set of Rolf's.
The Aspin SL, named for the famed climb in the French Pyrenees, was designed for racers and enthusiasts who want the climbing performance of the Elan with added rim toughness for everyday use.

hubset: Aspin SL wheel systems orbit around the ST 2.2 proprietary hub design. Patented Differential Flange Diameter™ on the rear hub lends a mechanical advantage effectively doubling the number of functional pulling spokes; increasing wheel durability. Black, CNC machined, hub shells with over sized axles provide high strength, stiffness and light weight. Optimized flange contours provide full spoke elbow support, increasing spoke life. Precision cartridge bearings are easily serviceable.
freehub mechanism: Forged aluminum freehub body has 3 independently driven hardened steel pawls. The system is strong, simple and dependable.
rims: The Aspin SL rim is slightly shorter than the Elan rim at 22mm tall. The rim section has a slightly thicker wall for added impact strength and toughness. The brake sidewalls are CNC-machined for smooth, consistent braking performance.
spoke & nipple: Black, aero profile 14/15 gage spokes with patented wrench flats and internal alloy nipples with nylon inserts contribute to clean aerodynamic performance and superior, long-term durability. Patented Self-Aligning Nipple™ technology and Dish Reducing design™ reduce spoke bending loads and rear wheel dish to increase spoke fatigue life.
